Lateral Lunge Exercises
Great for sports players. Lateral lunges invoke the
side-to-side movement of football, tennis and
basketball, not seen in other body weight exercises.
Coaching Points
- From a standing position, take a big step to the side placing your full foot flat on the floor and your toes pointing slightly out.
- In a controlled movement bend into this leading leg. I want you to imagine you have a chair behind the leading leg and you are trying to sit back on this chair.
- Your non-leading leg should remain in a fixed position and straight.
- From the bottom position, think about pushing the floor away to return to a standing position.
